“Sew Up Cancer”

I’m searching for women who would like to join me in sewing for people with cancer. As a recently diagnosed woman with breast cancer, I can tell you it is quite a blow when the doctor calls to tell you. Then there are the several weeks before you can even get in to see a doctor about removing it. These are times when your friends and family are so important. I am grateful for all the kind people who have acknowledged my fears. There are many people who are not so blessed to have those well-wishers.

I am inviting women to sew small objects to be given to new cancer victims. These will be distributed at the Cancer Center in Opelika. You don’t have to know how to sew to help. Can you cut, read directions, iron, etc.? If not, I can teach you. In fact I can teach you to sew or quilt. I have posted a few things that I sewed this week. I am open to new ideas, colors, methods etc. Currently, Opelika Sewing Center has some marvelous fabrics that would be suitable for quilts and things on sale for a very good price. I have already purchased many yards for us to begin. You don’t have to bring your machine or thread.

I live in the Beauregard community. If you are interested, please use the contact section at the bottom of this website. When I get some names, I’ll email you and give you a time when we can meet for the first time to go over ideas, make plans, and eat some refreshments.

Quilts are a labor of love. Around the farm you'll see several quilts being used, on display, being created, and even on the side of the barn. Check out these photos of some of our handiwork.
